some pictures

This isn't really an entry in the traditional sense, but I got a bunch of pictures back today and I scanned them in to show you. I hope you are diverted and amused and impressed.

Or something.

Remember a while back (I could look it up, but I won't) I went up to the top of Coit Tower? It's a tower that sort of sits there on the San Francisco skyline and overlooks things.

Coit Tower. Doing that whole sitting and overlooking thing.

While I was up there, I took some pictures. And here they are. (Wow. With an intro like that, I bet you can't wait.)

A view through one of the sets of windows.

The tower has a lovely 360 degree view of the city. This is one of my favorite pictures. The pointy building is the Transamerica Pyramid-- basically the defining feature of the SF skyline. This angle makes it look less dominating than it actually is.

Can you spot the Real World house?

So I got up all close to one of the windows and took this picture. You can see Lombard Street off in the distance, which is billed as "the crookedest street in the world" and on which the Real World cast had their house.

Is it just me, or is the window lopsided?

I like this wobbly shot of Alcatraz Island. The original picture is much better, though, as you can actually see Alcatraz.

A yellow boat.

Maybe its just me, but I find this picture to be charming. The way the sea and the sky are just this big blend of blue, and this little yellow boat chugging along... I don't know. I dig it.

And now, some other random pictures from the life of mo pie.

The Blue Apple.

This is the painting/collage I made for Laurie's birthday. The blue apple is an image from one of her poems. Those are our little faces cut out and pasted onto the canvas. I'm not much of an artist, but I like trying.

The McNuggets.

The other day, I put in earplugs because the bird alarms were driving me totally insane. Of course, I ended up sleeping until one in the afternoon. So maybe... they have a point.

Lovebirds.

I almost caught them doing their cute kissy thing, but not quite. You'll just have to use your imagination. Suffice it to say that they're awful cute.

Who, me?

Okay, I took these pictures with the remote control on my camera, because I was bored yesterday, and I really wanted to finish off the roll. So there you go. This one was me sitting far away from the camera.

Camera?

Hahahaha. I am totally revealing what a dork I am by showing you this picture. Check me out, tilting my head all sexy-like and opening my eyes all wide. Hey, have I mentioned I have blue eyes? Because you might not have noticed.

Oh, it's just too much.

I really like this picture, though. I think it captures my personality in some weird way.

365 days ago (give or take):

"Thanks, universe. Thanks for bending me over and shoving all this heartbreak and misery up my ass. It's appreciated. Really."

I am drunk and troubled. Yeah, this wasn't a great phase for me.

journal quote of the day:
"I strongly suggest you try it out at least a couple of days in advance of the ceremony ... just to make sure that nothing squeaks or pinches or falls apart or smells funny or rides up and wedges itself in painful and potentially embarrassing fashion, midway through the ceremony.

You wouldn't believe how strongly I 'suggest' it."

~Terri in Footnotes, which I just managed to start reading, but which I should have been reading all along. I also loved Jessie's whole entire entry today.
