what i'm reading:
I finished Moby Dick yesterday (oh, the symbolism) and updated my reading list accordingly. Also some notes on Kavalier and Clay.
what i'm writing:
Really terrible poetry. I mean, spectacularly terrible. Maudlin and terrible. Terrible.
what i'm watching:
Bring It On and The Princess Bride and all of Christopher Guest's films.
anything:
I went to go see They Might Be Giants on Monday. It was such, such, such a good show. Serendipitously, Ian had made me a copy of their "Flood" album (on the grounds that it was the best one) so I could learn some of the music beforehand. Well, the opening act was Sapphire Bullets-- which is actually TMBG in non-disguise-- and they played the entirety of "Flood" all the way through! And that was just the opening act! It was such a fun night.
phoebe and princess buttercup:
I think Phoebe was humping my hand yesterday. It marks a new, disturbing level of our relationship.
journal quote of the day:
"You chose and your world was shaken - so what? The choice may have been mistaken - the choosing was not. You have to move on. Look at what you've done - not at where you are, what you'll be. Sometime in the long-ago past, I wrote to you But it's a long, ugly road, and yes, it casts a shadow that may never vanish. It may never vanish because you gave him a part of yourself, and no matter what happened, when he walked out--you didn't take it all back.
You didn't take it all back, Eliza, but he didn't get the best of you. That will always be yours, no matter what the future brings you."
Melissa's Letter to Eliza is beautiful.
mood ring:
blue, oh so lonesome without you. why can't you be blue over me? (yes, bad country music. now you understand the depths to which I have sunk.)
shakespeare says:
Farewell: thou canst not teach me to forget. (Romeo & Juliet)

this year's mileage: 121.9
