If you click on the picture, you will find that instead of a "new face of plus-sized fashion," what the world really needs is new plus-sized fashion. I mean, what the hell is that outfit about? And that fake flower on her hand? Hideous!

You know what's worse? That a size 14 is the "new face of plus sized fashion"! Why not at least a size 22?
I think her size as a plus size is about right- what I found striking is that her face is so damn bony! It is like a starved person's face on a big body. And that outfit is hideous!
I have never understood why the fashion industry seems to think plus size = ugly clothes + polyester.

14 is good. It's great that they have her. But why not, say, three "faces" who they identify by name. A 14, and 18/20 and someone more like...I dunno, 26, 28...in the high end of what they sell.
What's really disgusting is that a 14 is not a large size, it's average in the US! Don't you wonder who's fooling whom? I mean... Gawd. I don't know how to express what I'm thinking. Who really believes that a size 14 is 'plus-sized'?

I am about 5'9" and am a size 12 and I had a woman from I forget which modeling agency ask me if I wanted to be a model, she said that plus size models start from size 10 and up.
omg... That model does not look plus-sized! I also loathe that tent that she's wearing for a top, to emulate a fuller body!

i had a women come up to me on the street and ask me to be a model for a gap,but i turned her down i don't want to be a model for any t.v show or anything else i'm fine being a normal person and being a role model for my baby girl.
ok, the crappy thing about all clothing and modeling is that they cater to small busted women. even in plus size modeling. I am 5'9 a size 12 and I wear a 38F bra size naturally. whenever I buy dresses at lane bryants they automatically assume large breasts means that the rest of me must be equivelent to the size of my breasts.
Oh god! I am a size 38f breast but wear a size 10 pant but why does all the clothing manufacturers think that if you are large on top you have to be large on bottom??? Or that you do not like lacy feminine bras????

I agree with so many of you. I am a 22 and have been for a long time. I consider myself very fashionable. I feel that 18 and up is plus size. To see someone who is a 14 and winning is not sending a good message to the world. What's wrong with a size 22 winning, I'm a 22 and I feel I look damn good!!!
I really didn't like the outfit that the plus sized model was wearing. Designers act as if plus sized people don't have good assests that they would like to show off. (like my booty)
hi im a teen and i think that being plus size is no big deal just as long as yor happy with your self. i've been big all of my life and one day i would really love to be a model. and being the way i am i still have tons of friends and family that love me for who i am. but all of my friends and family aren't big so sometimes i feel a little out of place but im happy for who iam and also the body that god has blessed me with
I think she looks great personally. I'm actually an aspiring plus size model. Im also a size 12, and I will be going in for an interview with Ford and Wilhelmina on the 7th and 8th, Im very excited. Wish me luck.
Well i'm a plus size teen. I am astounded at how shallow people have become. People assume that if you wear a size any bigger than a 12 then you are a fat blob. I understand that sometimes plus-sized people are not always the prettiest people to look at, but everyone is beautiful in their own way. I am a wrestler and i am rether good at it. I won third place at state regionals last year in the 220 weight devision. I have, since then, lost alot of weight. But people still see me as fat. I now wear a size 19 and all. i thought that it was something that i was doing but i wonder now. heeey! Im a teen plus sized girl, and been approached by various modelling agencies (but it's not my thing.) I completely agree with the fact there really isn't much going on with the plus sized fashion industry...quite frankly the clothes are pants and look like giant tents. If you were one of those oversized tops I swear, you look pregnant!...that woman's face is so skinny. I'd also like to say, when you're a skinny model your face doesn't matter as much- it has to be neutral, but when your plus sized it's always beautiful...weird.
I think that God made all beauty.As long as your healthy it really doesnt matter. But society makes you think that big isnt in and thats not right.Beauty come in all diffrent shapes and sizes.Everyone wasnt meant to be a size 2/ I love me for me and i will not change myself for no one. I am a beautiful black strong woman. Because in the end, you wont get judge on how small or big you are. I think being plus size is a good thing. Its what people make you say to not beleive it. I AM ALREADY A PLUS MODEL AND I CAN WEAR CLOTHES ANYWHERE FROM A 9 TO A 14 DEPENDING ON THE FABRIC. SIZE 14 IS PLUS SIZED COMPARED TO THE AVERAGE MODEL WHO IS PROBABLY A SIZE 2. PLUS SIZE DOESNT MEAN YOUR FAT, IT MEANS THAT YOU HAVE MORE TO OFFER THAN THESE HUNGRY NEED TO EAT A CHEESEBURGER GIRLS OUT HERE WEARING A SIZE 1. Size 14 is "plus size"... I've been modeling for a year now and I'm barely a 14... So i am glad, you guys shoiuld stop hatin' and just try to advance, be happy not hateful :)
Marilyn Monroe was the industrial size 14 which is more like a size 8. Sizes have changed since then. I am about a size 13-15 depending on the style but my industrial size is 22. I learned this at school because I am a fashion design major. Just thought I'd add that little info to comment the post above.
OK...EVERYONE WASN'T MEANT TO BE SKINNY AND EVERYONE WASN'T MEANT TO BE FAT... JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS THIN DOESN'T MEAN THEY ARE HUNGRY.... SO APPARENTLY FOOD IS ALL FAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT OR JUST JEALOUS.... I AM THIN BUT I AM NOT HUNGRY....DON'T HATE...BIG OR SMALL
I agree with everyone! I just lost 60 pounds, down to a size 10/12 from a 16/18 ... It's amazing how, even though I'm inches smaller, clothes still aren't made to fit "me" ... I think a lot of it is the quality of clothing ... even if they do come in a "large" size, they really aren't /made/ to fit you properly. Little or no thought goes into fashion, for anyone "real."
Just as bad: shoes. Try to find a ladie's size eleven in a wide. It doesn't exist.
