Big Fat Deal
So what's the Big Fat Deal? Well, at the risk of getting all mission-statementy, I think it's important to call attention to issues of weight in the media, pop culture, and society. If we can convince at least one teenage girl that Ashley Olsen isn't "the fat twin," we will have done our job.

I'm CRUSHED!! How can she be gone when there are others who need to go home so badly?!
I told my boyfriend that she freaked everybody out with the Jesus stuff -- sad to say that our secular society looks upon the devout with suspicion. I guess Jesus isn't "pop".
At least I'd like to think her hard-core Christianity bothered America more than her weight. It would be a nice change of pace for once.
I'm DEEPLY saddened!!! Not only it's a big blow to the full figured female popluation but a MAJOR blow to people like me, with a REAL ear for music!!! THAT SUCKS!!!
I'm bummed that she's out of it (and that we won't be seeing her great outfits anymore), but hopefully she will have more opportunities without being beholden to Fox/AI/whomever the way the finalist seems to be. Although as a finisher among the top 10, she is probably under some kind of contract with AI anyway. Anyway, I'm sure we will see her again. She's got talent!
Not only that, but next week's theme is Queen, and I was fantasizing about her strutting onto stage and belting out "Fat Bottomed Girls... WE make the rockin' world go 'round!" It would be a single. It would be a hit. It would have become our anthem.
Wow, the most unflattering photo of her ever appears alongside her controversial Advocate interview. Coincidence?
All I can say is that there is NO WAY IN HELL we're gonna see a full figured female idol anytime soon. Society and Hollywood has GOT to change!! WE don't need a size 2 blond-haired britney spears. We want REAL talent!!
I say there is a big difference between "full-figured" and Mandissa. I for one, thought her singing voice was good, but her style sucked. And I am not tuning in for religion when I turn on AI. Go Chris Go!
I was bothered by her preaching about "God being bigger than your lifestyle". It has nothing to do with HER being religious; Chris is religious as well and he is not preaching judgemental stuff on the show. There have been several Mormon contestants in the past as well, and they didn't preach. And it seems Katharine is a Scientologist (talk about a crazy cult), but she is keeping a low profile.
So no, she might be a big girl, but I'm not gonna be a fan just because of that.
