You Say You Want A Revolution
Ashlee Simpson has provoked anger in the readers of Marie Claire; her hypocrisy about her looks was the last straw for those who are fed up with lies about plastic surgery and weight loss from celebrities. (Incidentally I had no idea Marie Claire had readers. In fact, I had no idea that magazine even existed anymore.) Simpson was quoted as saying:
"Everyone is made differently, and that's what makes us beautiful and unique... I want girls to look in the mirror and feel confident."
And then she went and had a nose job. Marie Claire recieved more than 1,000 angry letters, many of which are being published in their August issue. Now the magazine promises to "shift away from celebrity inanity and toward more substantive topics." Seriously, this magazine still exists?

I actually feel very sorry for Ashlee Simpson. Can you even imagine how difficult it must be to try and follow in Jessica's footsteps?!?!?! With each new transformation to Ashlee's look, it seems as though she's trying harder and harder to look just like her big sister, and that look definitely does NOT suit Ashlee (in my opinion). I actually thought she looked best when she had the dark hair and the kinda grunge rocker look going on.

LMAO I'm just as surprised as you are about marie claire still being around, I keep wondering how they stay up, thoe 1000 readers must be the only ones they have.
I'm not surprised though by Ashlee Simpson, she's just another stupid vain hollywood nobody. I love how people think stars are so deep and bla bla bla, she's not the one talking, it's her publicist.
I actually have a subscription to Marie Claire. It's actually not all celebrity fluff and they do publish interesting stories that revolve around global issues. It's more interesting than Cosmopolitan at least! That said, I, too, was disappointed that they chose Ashlee Simpson for their cover.
Greetings,
I came across your blog while doing research for The Greg Behrendt Show; a new nationally syndicated talk show premiering this fall. I am currently working on a show topic about the ups and downs of weight loss. We are looking for a variety of stories from people who have tried (successfully or not) to lose weight and how their weight change affects their personal relationships.
The Greg Behrendt Show is a positive, upbeat show looking to push people in the right direction. This is not about exploiting anyone’s story; rather it’s about giving people the helpful advice they need.
If you are interested in discussing your story with me, please give me a call at your earliest convenience. We are seeking not only people who may need help, but also “real-life experts” who can offer advice to our guests. Check out more about our show www.gregbtv.com.
I look forward to speaking with you soon. Thank you for your time.
Best Regards,
Ally Weinberg

Mo, is it OK with you if I send the Ally Weinberg comment over to Paul at BigFatBlog? Or you can do it yourself, of course, but I think he'd be very interested.
Thanks.
Sure Dolley, but I think she posted that on a number of different blogs. Feel free to send it along though, just in case Paul didn't see it!
I'm with the anonymous commentor (except that I don't have my own subscription). I have mild love/hate relationship with MarieClaire. In some respects they are a typical fashion magazine, with typically inane fashion magazine crap, but then every month they have these really interesting pieces on international women and children's issues.
Is this where I get to say Greg Behrendt is hot? because he kind of is. Love his standup, slightly alarmed at the idea of him having a talk show.
