Feisty Times

I have only been on Weight Watchers for three days and therefore have not miraculously lost fifty pounds, but I already feel more confident, more in control, more fetching and more feisty. I don’t know why it’s so easy sometimes and so difficult at other times, but this is feeling like one of the easy times. We’ll see what happens at the end of the week.

I am lucky in that there is a grocery store a block away from my workplace. So my new Monday morning ritual is to go buy myself supplies for the week: light yogurt, a loaf of bread, fruit, veggies, lunchmeat, snacks. I may not have the gym situation sorted out, but the food thing is—for now—doable.

Also, since my venture into the hospital, I’ve cut way, way down on drinking caloric beverages. I only have single-shot lattes, and only one small one a day. (I used to have at least two large ones a day, especially on days when I’d teach. I needed a latte to start off each job, basically.) I might add back the early morning one, because I really am exhausted and a worse teacher in the morning if I have not had coffee. I’ve also cut back on alcohol, which tends to make me lose control of my eating if I’m not careful.

My next project is to try and get myself an elliptical trainer. However, I got a letter from the hospital showing charges of $1,500 for my emergency room visit. I hope my insurance will pay for the lion’s share of that, because if not, my elliptical trainer fund has just gone down the drain.
