Good, Bad, Ugly

I went to my Disneyland meeting, and they gave me a “bravo” star for showing up. I deserved it for my bravery in stepping on that scale, because I’d spent the day before eating. I had a churro, some ice cream, bites of this, tastes of that. Lunch was a delicious chicken Caesar (easily the best thing I’ve ever eaten at Disneyland) while Captain Jack Sparrow stumbled around nearby. Dinner was a giant chocolate chip cookie.

Although I did do a lot of walking over the weekend (my legs are still sore) it was not enough to mitigate the Disney foodfest, or the previous day’s In-N-Out burger, or the previous five days’ struggles. I’d gained two pounds. Yes, those same two pounds I lost last week. Stupid #$@% pounds.

All is not lost, however. The most important thing is that I began again right away on Sunday, and have had two on-point days so far. And I was able to begin again because I had gone to that meeting and stepped on that scale and faced the music. Maybe I won’t be able to lose 10 pounds in the next three weeks, but over the long-term, I am doing exactly the right thing: not quitting.

It may have been mainly water weight. Even if you did eat badly it would take a couple of days to show up on the scales, and with all the walking you did it probabaly wasn't as bad as you think. It'll come off again pretty soon I reckon.

I have to say that I felt really bloated, but I figured it was wishful thinking. I still feel bloated (i.e. my boobs hurt).

That-a-girl. The beauty of this is that you know what your "bad" choices were, and you know how to un-make them. Also, sometimes it's okay to make "bad" choices, even though it slows down our progress. No big rush; the important thing is to be moving in the right direction.

I also agree with the person who mentioned the water weight. Even if it's not bloat, it could be water stuck around your joints from moving more than usual. Retention from sodium or whatnot. A Mouseketeer hat surreptitiously stuck up your ass. Whatever. You're now back on track and back on track is as good as on track.

Hang in there!

I don't know if this means anything really but did you consider it may just be a little difference in scales? Like my weight shows up a pound or two different depending on the scale. But it is just a thought =)

Not to worry. If you did tons of walking and are back on track with your food plan, the pounds will come off. Sometimes it takes a little while and it gets out of synch with what you eat and do for exercise. But it does work if you stick with it.

You're doing great! Going to a meeting while you're away - especially at Disneyland! - is a big factor in helping you stay on track. I know it works for me when I travel.

You know, I think I'd find a Jack Sparrow Impersonator rather... unnerving. I mean, it's OK when it's Johnny Depp doing it.

Oh. That wasn't what we were talking about...

Not quitting's good. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, etc. That's what I'm trying to do too at the moment!

Dude! Count those AP's for the walking you did, and give yo'self a big ol' hug for your successes!

And want to hear something scary? My weight varies between four as much as seven pounds in a single day. Thank you, PMS, water weight, and cheesy, salty french fries for dinner.

Go, Mo!

They have WW meetings at Disney?

They should have scales that weigh 2 pounds light so they'd be "The Happiest Weigh-ins On Earth."
